Healthy Dose of Irony
“Healthy,” a UK-based magazine which focuses on women’s health thought it would be a good idea to alter a photo of their cover model, Kamilla Wladyka in an effort to add weight to her thin frame.
Here’s what Editor Jane Druker had to say:
“Sometimes when you cast a model, they look OK, but then when they turn up on the shoot day, they might not have eaten for two or three days. You’re not in charge of their health. When she did arrive, there were plenty of clothes that we couldn’t put on her because her bones stuck out too much. She looked beautiful in the face, but really thin and unwell…”
Instead of re-booking a size 10 model which is what they made Kamilla into through the magic of graphic retouching, they went ahead and used her even though she was clearly not well.
It seems as if in the fashion industry two steps forward sometimes means one giant step back!
XOXO,
Mia
