Jill Scott and The A Group

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Hollywood Listening Party for one of my all time favorite artists Jill Scott’s new album, “Light of the Sun.”

Jilly from Philly NEVER disappoints…ever!  I sang at the top of my lungs and sweat my hair out on a “school night!”

With a bolder than ever voice, a new home at Warner Brothers and incredible new background singers who go by the name, “The A Group” ( these girls can sang!!) Jill is poised to run to the top of the charts!

Here’s a look at the just released video for, “Shame,” one of the hottest songs on the album.  Jill and the girls were styled by the incomparable Susan Moses!

I can’t wait to hear the album in its entirety this summer when it’s released.

Adele’s Tops!

Curvy singing sensation, Adele has officially hit the mark as the first platinum selling artist of 2011!

Earlier this year, British soul singer Adele surprised just about everyone when her sophomore album, ’21,’ debuted atop the Billboard 200 album chart with an astounding 352,000 copies sold — the biggest debut of any album this year. This week, ’21′ claims another title: first album of 2011 to go platinum.

According to Billboard, Adele topples Britney Spears’ ‘Femme Fatale’ to reclaim the pole position on this week’s album chart, moving 88,000 more copies and pushing her total domestic sales to 1.03 million. The year’s second-biggest album, Mumford & Sons’ ‘Sigh No More,’ is a distant second, having sold 645,000 copies.

Congrats, Liv!

 

Everyone’s favorite Emmy Award winning, ”SVU” Lady Cop Mariska Hargitay AKA, “Olivia ‘Liv’ Benson” just welcomed a new bundle of joy!  Hargitay and her husband, actor and also, “SVU” regular, Peter Hermann added a baby girl to their family via adoption. 

The beautiful Amaya Josephine  will no doubt be protected by her big brother August, the couples 4-year-old son.

I applaud the couple for chosing to adopt their new joy domestically, from here in the United States.  Children all over the world need love and care but children are also suffering here at home.

Last night our girl, Wendy Williams and her partner Tony Dovolani were booted from Dancing With the stars

Don’t fret!! Wendy is still a winner with a highly rated talk show and  dual covers of Essence magazines May issue!

Pop Star Katy Perry has a brand new, visually stunning video for her new single, “E.T.” featuring Kanye West.  The real star of the video is not West or Perry but model, Shaun Ross.

I had the pleasure of meeting Shaun a few years ago as we both stood on line to audition for BET’s Rip the Runway and we reconnected in hair and make up this past season of the show.

Shaun is simply beautiful and his personality shines even brighter than the incredible future he has undoubtedly cemented for himself.  He’s found a way to own what makes him different and use it to his advantage.  We could all learn lots from Mr. Ross!

Team Zoe or Team Goreski

About the same time that Stylist to the stars, Rachel Zoe and her hubby Rodger debuted their beautiful baby boy, Skyler to the press…

it was announced that her former assistant and resident scene stealer from the Rachel Zoe Project, Brad Goreski is getting his own show!  Brad’s new show will take a bow during Bravo’s 2011-2012 season.

So, will you be Team Zoe, Team Goreski or Team Fashion and watch both shows?

I  love Rachel and Brad for entirely different reasons so I think I’m going with Team Fashion and I’ll watch both shows!  What about you?

Neo-Soul singer Angie Stone was arrested over the weekend for driving with a suspended license–which she claims she didn’t even know she had!

Stone is currently working to clear her name.

Slim Takes Some Getting Used To

Jennifer Hudson’s fiance, David Otunga, loves her but thinks her fab new look will take some getting used to!

“Jennifer Hudson’s fiance and father of her son, David Otunga, is still adjusting to the singer’s new body and incredible weight loss.”

“The ‘Where You At’ singer lost 80lbs after the birth of her son, going from a U.S. size 16 to a size 6, but during her interview on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, J-Hud said that her partner is having difficultly getting used to her new shape.

She said: “He’s getting adjusted to it. He’s not really into change that much.”

The Oscar winner also claims that she’s adopted a new sense of style to go with her body, and her fiance prefers the way she used to dress.

Jennifer explained: “He fusses at me like, ‘Why do you have to have to get all dressed up to go out, and why can’t you just go out like you used to?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m a walking billboard now, honey!”"
