Plus Model Magazine, Brand Model Management and Hips & Curves in association with Love Your Body Day are offering an amazing opportunity for one lucky plus model:
Best of luck!
Recently I appeared on Fox 5’s Good Day NY to model the latest trends from ReDress NYC. Redress is a fantastic, one of a kind, vintage shop in Brooklyn, NY that specializes in clothing size 12 on up! Woo Hoo!
Owner, Deb Malkin has been a fixture on the plus fashion scene for years and I got to know her through her work at Alight.com and The Fat Girl Flea Market.
ReDress NYC is chock full of great finds and take it from me– if you see something you love at the shop get it! It will NOT be there when you get back!
Back in April we took over ReDress for a Plus Model Magazine editorial using strictly fab finds from the store. (I styled the shoot) Take a look at what we found:
Gorgeous night wear
Flirty, fun frocks
Vintage Lane Bryant and Ralph Lauren
The store it self is like stepping into an oasis. It’s deceptively large and the staff is super friendly. Plus, there are crinoline hanging everywhere and personally, they make me happy!
Here’s the clip from Good Day NY:
Re Dress is having a major denim sale right now and here are the deets by way of GDNY:
MYFOXNY.COM – Re/Dress NYC is a buy/sell/ trade resale establishment. Based on the store’s style, size and seasonal needs, women are offered either 25% of the resale price in cash or 40% store credit for the clothing selected by the staff.
Beginning Thursday September 17th, REDRESS is kicking off Fall with a harvest festival of its own.
REDRESS wants to share the bounty of Abby Z denim they have. There’s hundreds of pairs of jeans + jean jackets in sizes 12-24 in a variety of styles. All Abby Z denim is $30 each or 2 for $50. The pieces originally retailed for $125-$225 each!REDRESS will be doing their regular buying these days and you CAN use your store credit for this sale.

Mia Amber Asks…
Basically, I’m playing ‘3 questions’ with the hottest names in the fashion, entertainment and beauty biz in the hopes that the answers I get will help those aspiring to do the things that my guest icons are doing.
First up is the incomparable icon, Isaac Mizrahi!
Mizrahi is one of my absolute favorite designers, authors and TV personalities and he never disappoints!
His eponymous line for Target stores became one of my (and my Mom’s) fashion staples and we were sorry to see it go. It ranged from size 2-18 and was fantastic!
However, Isaac has been working on lots of new projects such as his debut as host of Bravo’s new hit, “The Fashion Show” on which I made an appearance as a Front Row Fashion Insider on this seasons “Real Woman Challenge.” Sitting with him on that front row and chatting while wearing one of his pieces was a surreal moment for me.
Isaac has been busy indeed with his many fashionable coals in the fire such as Bridal, Bags, Books and Bedding.
Take a look at the campaigns for his latest collections for Liz Claiborne. It’s always fun to play “Where’s Waldo Isaac” in the ads!
I love that he uses women of all shapes and sizes in his campaigns.
and here’s Mizrahi for Liz Claiborne Woman
I caught up to Mr. Mizrahi this week in the midst of his preparation for the showing of his 2010 Spring Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week which he is streaming live at 2pm Thursday, September 17.
Go to www.WatchIsaac.com and be apart of the front row!
Until then, let’s play “3 Questions”
MA: What’s the worst career advice you’ve ever received?
IM: Someone (who shall remain nameless) told me to take it slow and not get carried away. He told me to pace myself and try not to involve my ego in my work. I guess that might be good advice to someone else but I can’t help being really passionate about what I do and measuring my personal worth by the work I do. It’s just how I’m built.
MA: What was the best career advice you ever received?
IM: The best advice came from my psychic in 1987 who told me to leave the company I was working for and start my own company. It was something I was going to do anyway but having her blessing made it feel less crazy.
MA: Good, bad or Ugly…what career advice do you have to offer a newbie in your field?
IM: My best advice to newbies… have fun doing what you do. If it’s not fun DON’T DO IT!
I cannot thank you enough Isaac for your time and honesty. You are one of the best in the business and you’ll always have a place in my heart –and your clothes in my closet!
Don’t forget to tune in to watch Isaac Mizrahi debut his 2010 Spring collection this Thursday at 2pm sharp at www.WatchIsaac.com

This weekend I had the absolute pleasure of appearing at The Fuller Woman Expo in Toronto. Here’s some info about the expo:
I’m working on a hot new feature for the blog and things are looking WAY up! You’ll be the first to know as soon as it happens! Until then… let’s just enjoy this pic of LL!
(Re-Posted from Style-List but I’ve added some photos of the plus models spoken of in the article)
The People Have Spoken – More Nude Plus-Size Models!
by Katie Hintz-Zambrano
So, Glamour magazine is doing just that. After supportive letters flooded in after the magazine ran unairbrushed size 12-14 model Lizzi Miller naked, except for a thong, in the magazine’s September issue, Glamour has decided to focus its lenses on plus-size beauties once again.
For its upcoming November issue, photographer Matthias Vriens shot the full-figured Miller once again, along with her curvy model counterparts
Anansa Sims (daughter of Beverly Johnson)
and our favorite model-slash-author Crystal Renn
Renn, whose book “Hungry” about overcoming an eating disorder is being released next week, told StyleList that she has high hopes for fashion moving away from the waif aesthetic. “It starts with the sample sizes and I think designers are becoming more aware. I think there have been many positive changes. I’ve done all of the Vogue’s and Dolce & Gabbana ads. It’s just a matter of time before it’s brought back to mainstream,” Renn said. “Women want to see themselves in the pictures — they want to see their size, color and height. I think if that happens, it’ll make women feel more empowered and they’ll love themselves more.”
Gossip’s Beth Ditto poses in the buff on the debut cover of Britain’s Love magazine. Photo courtesy of Love Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive says that was certainly the response received after 20-year-old Miller posed with her slightly saggy stomach and full thighs on display. “I am gasping with delight…I love the woman on p 194!” said one reader, who wrote into Leive. Another reader said: “This beautiful woman has a real stomach and did I even see a few stretch marks? This is how my belly looks after giving birth to my two amazing kids! This photo made me want to shout from the rooftops.”
With Forever 21 launching a plus-size line, Gossip’s Beth Ditto going nude on the cover of Love (and designing a clothing line for Evans), “Dance Your Ass Off” on prime-time and even British Vogue’s editor-in-chief Alexandra Schulman denouncing the size zero samples used by the major design houses, could we see a curvy girl trend on the rise?
I really hope so!
